German is one of the languages we measured directly: the same recordings through three on-device engines, word error rates compared, and the route chosen from the results — not from a marketing table. That’s the same discipline behind every Alder language decision, and it’s why German dictation gets a specifically chosen engine rather than a one-size-fits-all default.
Umlaute, ß, and very long words
ä, ö, ü and ß come out correctly because the engine writes German natively — no “ae” and “ss” substitutes to fix afterward. Compound words arrive as single words, the way German actually writes them, and English loanwords inside German sentences — das Feature, der Workflow, gemergt — stay recognizable instead of being mangled into something neither language would claim.
Aufgeräumt oder wortwörtlich — du entscheidest
Everyone says ähm, also, halt. With cleanup on, the fillers and stumbles disappear and your meaning stays exactly as spoken — Alder never rewrites your ideas. With cleanup off, you get every word verbatim, useful for notes and quotes where wording matters. One switch, per dictation.
Between German and English, natively
Dictate auf Deutsch and let Alder type finished English at your cursor — or the reverse. Translation runs on the device, so the German-to-English email you speak in the hallway never touches a server. “Same as Spoken” keeps translation off until you actually want it.
Keine stillen Fehler
A microphone that connects but sends no audio, a session cut off mid-sentence, a text field that refuses input — Alder tells you what happened instead of pretending. Interrupted recordings are kept and offered back on the next launch; blocked insertions stay on the result card. Was du gesagt hast, bleibt erhalten.

- Does Alder handle German mixed with English — Denglisch? Yes. "Wir shippen das Feature nächste Woche" keeps "shippen" and "Feature" the way you said them. English loanwords inside German sentences are a normal case, not a failure mode.
